The Clumsys 2: Butterfly Effect Review

Uncategorized

"Embedded in the mud, glistening green and gold and black, was a butterfly, very beautiful, and very dead. It fell to the floor, an exquisite thing, a small thing that could upset balances and knock down a line of small dominoes and then big dominoes and then gigantic dominoes, all down the years across Time. Eckels’ mind whirled. It couldn’t change things. Killing one butterfly couldn’t be that important. Could it?"

So wrote Ray Bradbury in the classic short story "A Sound of Thunder," the roundabout inspiration for The Clumsys 2: The Butterfly Effect, the second game based on the adventures of the time-traveling Albert Clumsy and his family.

Shaman Odyssey: Tropic Adventure Review

Uncategorized

Cateia Games’ Shaman Odyssey is the latest tropical island-themed building/sim game where you’re tasked with shepherding a tribe of villagers through various challenges and dangers on a quest to reach their "true home." While the game boasts some unique graphical tricks, the wholly unoriginal premise and lacklustre gameplay is a bit of a disappointment.

The game begins when the tribe’s young Shaman (you, the player), is visited by an ancestral spirit who urges him to reunite the tribe - whose people have been scattered throughout many different islands - and lead them to a permanent and safe home.

This hidden object game is quite the long, enjoyable travel experience. The problem is that for a hidden object game to be fun it has to balance ease of finding objects with the challenge. In this case, often people are saying it’s too easy. However, the story and premise are great and the landscapes are a ‘beaut to see. It may be good if you want to relax and enjoy the ambience and aren’t looking for a super challenging seek and find game.

Simplz: Zoo

Uncategorized

Build your very own zoo in Simplz: Zoo! Combining two types of games, simulation and puzzle into one unique adventure, Simplz: Zoo puts you in charge as you decide what animals to add to your zoo, and exactly where to place them. Every month is a new challenge as you balance customer wants with the zoo finances to make your zoo the best in the world!

Simplz Zoo is a fun new match-3 meets simulation game by Reflexive Entertainment and SWG. At the core of the game there is a very polished and enjoyable match-3 tile game. The innovative layer adding to this is the zoo. You build and design your own layout, which animals are in the habitats, and what they do. Also, you can add decorations, fountains, trash cans, and the like to help keep the place lively for the visitors. In this way it’s close to Zoo Tycoon, but not quite because of how they made it. This adds a really fun mechanic that their previous match-3 games, like Big Kahuna Reef, didn’t have. For a game company to make so many diverse games, from action (Rebound, Wik and the Fable of Souls) to puzzle (Big Kahuna Reef series) to time management (Airport Mania), these are coming out really well and worth your time to try them.
